We celebrate 'National Women's Day' because in the early 1900's women did not have the right to have jobs or to work.
Women also did not have the right to vote in the 1900's .
In the 1900's women had to fight to get their rights , after a long fight women got the rights they needed( to be able to work, to be able to vote ,much other rights!).
Even today in most countries there still are more rights for men than for women.
Today women have the right to work and vote.
WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A WOMEN .
When I think of what it means to be a women I think of my Grandmother who had to raise my mother and my aunt Lucille and my other aunt Nicole ( who died when she was only 8) .
My grandmother had my aunt Lucille when she was 16-17 and my mother when she was 20 years old , Nicole when she was around 30. Anyway she had to raise them on her own and there weren't rights for her to work.
When my mother was 16 she could work because the women had one they're fight for rights allready.
I also think of my mother when I think of what it means to be a women I think of her having to raise me , my brothers , my sister without our father .
My mother had the abbillity to work when she was 16 and older but she couldn't after we were born ( to raise us but now her health is bad).
I also think of all the women in our world that should be able to work but in a lot of countries but are not aloud to.
This is not fare , Men shouldn't have more rights then women , we should all be equal.
To be a women it means to raise your children , have any job you want ( Legal of course!) at the end of the day be equal to men.
